History of PEC University of Technology
Before partition Punjab Engineering College was known in the name of Maclagan Engineering College which was earlier situated in Pakistan and after partition it was named as East Punjab Engineering College. The college started to function from the year 1947 December within the premises of Thomson Engineering College Roorkee which was now known as IIT Roorkee. In January 1954 the college shifted to the current location in Chandigarh. In October 2003, the college was declared as Deemed University. In 2009, it was renamed as PEC University of Technology and was recognized as best technical college in India by National Foundation of Engineers.
