About Mohali


Mohali is one of the hot spot for tourism in Punjab. It is also known as the ‘twin city’ of Chandigarh. The city is located near Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab and belongs to the western regions. The southern part of the city includes Fategarh Sahib and to the north, it is Rupnagar district. The city is also known as the Tri City due to its peculiar jurisdiction. The place is an excellent spot for tourism and some of the nearby locations include Panchakula, Morindra, Ropar, Kharar, Kalka etc. Punjabi is the predominant language spoken in Mohali, Hindi and English are also spoken.

Climate and Topography


Mohali is having an extreme climate and scattered showers. They are characterized by hot summers and cold winters. There is also chance for precipitation in some months and may be cloudy. In summer, the temperature is extremely hot and muggy and will be shivering cold in winter. The chances of frost occur during the months of December and January and rarely receive some winter rains from the west. The average annual rainfall is 617 mm. The topography of Mohali is represented by the alluvial plains of Punjab, which is fertile from its rivers.

Tourism in Mohali


Mohali is internationally known for its cricket stadium known as Mohali Cricket Stadium. It had been a great venue for some outstanding cricket matches. The project of building this stadium was started in 1992 by the Punjab Cricket Association in a swampy area in Mohali and the future, it was a great success. The stadium was also incorporated with swimming pools, health clubs, practice nets etc. Many great players from India as well as outside nations are coming here for the purpose of Cricket.

There are many exiting tourist places in Mohali which include the Sukhna Lake, Bhakra Nangal Dam, Anandpur Sahib, Nada Sahib Gurudwara etc. Among them the Sukna Lake was a real scenery in the foot hills of Himalayas. There is a golf course on the shores of the lake and is also famous for its Rock Garden. The Bhakra Nangal Dam is another tourist destination which was built across the Sutlej River. And the peculiarity is that It is the second largest dam in India as well as Asia next to Tehri Dam. The place is also gifted by some historical places like Lalan Wala Peer, Amb Sahib, Angithe Sahib, Pubba Sahib Gurudwara etc. Anandpur Sahib and Nana Sahib are also some of the famous Gurudwaras here.

Mohali is also having many famous educational Institutions which include the TCIL-IT MOHALI, CGS College of Modern Technology, National Institute for Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), SAS Institute of Information Technology etc. Mohali is also having some excellent Medical Colleges and Engineering Colleges. The famous British School Sector which is affiliated with the Cambridge University is also located I Mohali.

Some of the nearby tourism destination around Mohali include Panchakula, Morni Hills, Barog, Shoghi, Shimla, Mashobra, Yamunotri, Sharanpur, Mandi, Moga, Kanatal etc. Mohali also famous for the sites like Mansa, Kurukshethra, Solan, Arki, Thander, Hoshiarpur etc. Watching these amazing places will surely be exhibitionism.

Accessing Mohali


Mohali is well equipped with 3 dimensional networks of roads, airlines and railways. The nearest airport to Mohali is Chandigarh. There are always flights from Jammu, Mumbai, and New Delhi to Chandigarh. The nearest Railway Station is also Chandigarh. Some of the trains from Delhi named Himalayan Queen, Kalka Shatabdi are running to Chandigarh. There is also a frequent network of trains from Howrah, Allahabad, Kochuveli etc. Mohali can be accessed by road through the National Highway passing through Chandigarh.
