Racism in Australia - Attack on Punjab students

Racism in Australia

Hi friends , the most shocking news that created a lot of fear among the students who had plan to study abroad, especially in Australia is the murder of Indians in Australia. This is very sad news for all the Indians and moreover this will create tension between two countries. More than hundreds of Indians were attacked last year and this New Year started very bad for the Indians in Australia as it has resulted in the death of Indian citizens in Australia.

The two Indians who were killed in Australia, Nitin Garg and Ranjot Singh, were from Punjab and their death created lot of anger to all the Indians in India and also the Indian students in Australia. It is also said that the Australian police are not very serious in this matter as they failed to trace the culprit.

Nitin Garg was the first Indian to get killed in Australia, due to the racist attacks as he was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in Australia. He was attacked at Melbourne. A day later another shocking news, was the death of another Indian, Ranjot Singh, whose body was found at New South Wales province. So the death of these Indians in Australia have resulted in lot tension in Punjab, as both of them belonged to the state of Punjab.Nitin's body was brought to India and he was cremated in Jagraon town, 160 km from Chandigarh. In spite of heavy cold, many people attended the funeral. So the Government of Punjab was very much worried with these attacks and they asked the Prime Minister for the safety of Indians in Australia. The Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, have announced Rs.5 Lakh compensation for both the families.

Adding to this sorrow, is the death of another Indian Amandeep Kaur who was also a Punjabi. The body of Kaur was fished out of a canal near Brisbane and when she was found, she was taken to hospital, but failed to survive. Amandeep Kaur's uncle Mahinderpal have stated "The Australian police detained Amandeep’s husband Rana Pardeep for questioning. But he was released after he told the police that she had attempted to commit suicide. But we strongly suspect, from the wound on her forehead, that she was hit on the head and then thrown into the canal" and so the actual reason of this death is unknown.

Usually thousands of students go for Australia for their higher education and if these attacks continue than the education is Australia for Indian will only be a dream.

Let us hope that no more attacks occur in future.
Have a nice day and Love peace all time
With regards
