How to obtain Driving License in Punjab
No person is allowed to drive a motor vehicle or a transport vehicle in any public place without license as per the law The person must hold a valid driving licence issued to him by Licensing Authority.
Age Limit for Driving License – 18 years for a motor vehicle. 20 years for driving a transport vehicle in any public place.
How to apply for Learner's Driving License – Online Forms
Online Forms are available for applying for Driving License from the official website concerned.
Download form 2 for Learner's license. Fill the form and attach the following documents along with the application.
Medical Certificate in Form No. 1-A or declaration in Form 1, as the case may be
Three copies of the applicant's, recent Passport size Photograph
Fee of Rs. 30/- for each class of vehicle
In the case of application for medium goods vehicle, a medium passenger motor vehicle, a heavy goods vehicle, or a heavy passenger vehicle, the driving licence for Light Motor Vehicle held by the applicant.
Important - The applicant must be present at the time submission of the application form for Learner's License before the licensing authority for preliminary test
Learner's licence issued by licensing authority shall be valid for 6 months
How to obtain Driving License after Learner's License Online Form
Download form 4 and fill it along with the with following documents.
An effective learner's licence to drive the vehicle of the type to which the application relates.
Fee of Rs. 40.00 in case the Driving Licence is in Form 6 and Rs. 200.00 (including the cost of computerized chip) in case of Driving Licence is to be issued in Form No. 7
Three copies of the applicant's recent [passport size photograph]
Medical Certificate in Form 1A - Where required
A driving certificate in Form 5 issued by the school or establishment from where the applicant received instruction, if any.
Driving Test - The applicant will go through a test and it is mandatory for the applicants to pass driving test/ physical competence test to be conducted by licensing authority on a vehicle of the type he has applied for subject to payment of Rs. 50.00 as competency fee.
