History of Shiv Mandir, Gur Mandi

Shiv Mandir was built by a Muslim Nawab of 'Lodhi Dynasty'. There is a myth that the Nawab was having his lust on a Hindu girl during his rule over Jalandhar. But that girl was great devotee of Lord Shiva and the snake of Lord Shiva saved her honor. Nawab apologized from that girl and built the temple on her bidding. That's why the temple has a glimpse of both Hindu and Muslim architecture.

Structure of Shiv Mandir, Gur Mandi

Since the temple was constructed by a Muslim Nawab, thus it has a blend of both Hindu-Muslim architecture. The main gate of the temple is built like the gate of a mosque, while rest of the building bears a rich touch of Hindu architecture.

Just opposite to the temple, there is a mosque named Masjid Inam Nasar which is also very ancient. It is believed that the Nawab had himself knowingly built the temple near mosque.

Festivals at Shiv Mandir, Gur Mandi

Although the temple is opened for 365 days for the devotees, but a huge crows is attracted towards Shiv Mandir on the occasion of Shivratri and other festivals of Hinduism.
